21:00 Budapest Bár concert

Budapest Bar has a simple recipe: come to the concert, kick back, have fun, enjoy the music and the hit songs! Bring granny, the grandkids and the girlfriends – everybody is guaranteed to have a wonderful time. The band has been playing for 10 years its unique and bold covers, selecting from the best songs inherited from the world of Hungarian music. Not to mention they add their own contributions to this heritage as their latest records feature gradually more and more of their own songs. At the concerts the incredibly colourful band has selected from the highlights of 10 albums, the familiar tunes will be interpreted by renowned guest singers. The band celebrated its 10th birthday in December 2017 - on this occasion they were summed up and renewed. They summarized the past and their new album, Budapest, was born. The new album is not only special because almost every song is about the capital, but also because of the many songs that have been overwhelmed by their new songs - they show a lot of them, but they also choose from old favorites. The band is an intoxicating music cocktail of Gypsy virtuosity infused with rock'n'roll energy. The wildly popular five-piece Gypsy band teams up with a rotating roster of singers from the rock, underground, electronic and jazz scene, swinging between the sultry and rollicking. They invoke the spirit of Europe's golden age of cafés and cabaret, the 1920s-1950s. Budapest Bar, born out of a renewed Gypsy scene and a vibrant rock underground, has brought the charm and wit, the skill and panache of this era back. Replacing the music's kitsch with great musicality, bandleader Róbert Farkas and Budapest Bar have found just the right balance of vintage vibe and contemporary feel. Thanks to the band, long-forgotten tunes will be resurrected and a part of youth culture. They have dusted down a great number of songs, resurrected forgotten ones, rebranded well-known ones and wrote a few of their own tunes in the last few years. Ages, cultures, styles and generations meet in their productions – maybe that’s why they are beloved by young and old alike. Budapest Bar may be zigzagging among musical genres, but they will surely get you out of your funk. A musical celebration for the open ears!
